I used to watch lots of YouTube videos featuring Daffyd, the Little Britain. Daffyd is a homophobic, obese, gay character living in a small village. Probably the kind of character that would be cancelled these days.

The skits usually go around Daffyd complaining about how homophobic and intolerant everyone in the village is. It was obvious that everyone liked and supported him, he had nothing to be afraid of. He was the only one who had an issue with himself, and watching that contradiction can be quite funny.

At some point I started to identify situations in my life where I behaved like Daffyd because of my own self-hate. Since I already knew how ridiculous it looked, and how baseless that was, I could get rid of those negative thoughts.

And all thanks to Daffyd Thomas, the only gay in the village.
